The Price Is Right has been giving away some sweet rides lately. For a while there, contestants were getting a string of el-cheapos like Geos and Kias. And don’t get me wrong, a new car is a new car. But don’t even try to tell me the suspense isn’t hella more incredible when the prize at stake is a Porsche, a Tesla or even a Farrari.

Frenzy ensued April 25 when one young contestant on the Price Is Right was offered the chance to win the most expense prize in the show’s history, the Ferrari 458 Spider. The 560-horsepower V8 engine hardtop convertible is equipped with a seven-speed transmission. It features satellite radio, navigation, Bluetooth, as well as front and rear parking sensors. The car can go from 0 to 62 miles-per-hour in less than 3.4 seconds, and its aluminum hardtop can be lowered or raised in just 14 seconds.

All Therese had to do for the Ferrari to be hers was correctly arrange six numbers in the exact order. OK, it was a little trickier than all that. The Three Strikes Game requires a player to pull numbers out of sack and correctly place them in price of the car—in this case $285,716. But if Therese drew three “X” chips before she got the price right, game over. Therese struck out. Damn, it must have sucked to be her in that moment.

But is it more exciting to watch a contestant lose a dream car like a Ferrari Spider or win a lame-by-comparison prize like a Huyndai Elantra? Sure, maybe you can buy 20 Elantras for every Spider, but who cares if you lose in the end, right? Plus, what average Joe appearing on the Price is Right can even afford to drive a Ferrari if he actually won? No, Marc here definitely got the better end of the stick, and there was a shit-ton more celebration in the end.

Fourty years after the Motorsports department of BMW was first created, student and designer Cristophe Jourd’hui has designed a new BMW MZ8, made to honor the BMW 8-series and specifically the Z8, which was sold between 1999 and 2003.

Image via Christophe Jourd’hui/Benjamin Baron

Equipped with a mid-engine (600 HP) set up—whereas the 8 series models were front-engined—the car seems to represent the sleekness BMW often showcases while putting a unique spin on two Motorsports classics. For example, the car maintains the iconic double-kidney grill, although it is much more square than most of the BMW cars on the market. The car also features a removable hardtop roof, and since most cars of its kind are convertibles, that was seemingly a no-brainer.

Jourd’hui—a student at the International School of Design—commented on his design of the car, saying he felt the jutting, sharp features “gives a stronger character to the car.” And the pictures that have been released clearly indicate characteristics of the classic 8-series while still meeting market demands of a futuristic look. And although there has been little news on the specifics of the car other than the released designs, the BMW design team has approved further prototype development.

Image via Christophe Jourd’hui/Benjamin Baron

The automobile industry is one of manufacturer loyalty; and a vast majority of buyers who can afford to purchase high-end cars like the new MZ8 usually maintain loyalty to one certain brand. Through the following it has created, BMW has a great opportunity to offer a new product that can offer nostalgia to those who have been faithful to the company. And with so much buzz already surrounding this prototype, BMW seems to have found the perfect medium to show it can draw new drivers while catering to its hardcore following that seems to grow exponentially.

In a time when pranking has become one of the most common ways to gain notoriety, we see many TV shows and YouTube videos where candid cameras look on while unsuspecting victims fall prey to various circumstances. Shows like “Punk’d” and “Impractical Jokers” showcase people getting pranked and reacting naturally before being told it’s a prank. And usually once the victims are told they’re on TV and that they’re part of a prank, they have good spirits and generally laugh when they look back at the whole event. Usually.

However, if you ask Roman Atwood, the popular YouTube video prankster will tell you that pranks don’t always go over as well as you might expect. Atwood, who’s amassed more than 140 million YouTube views on his channel, recently pulled a prank on a Ferrari owner who felt he was simply too rich to put up with that type of behavior. One of Roman’s more popular ideas: The jokester pokes a hole in a water bottle and pretends to piss in public places. Creativity at it’s finest, right?

Atwood decided to pull this prank on a Ferrari 360 owner who pulled into a handicap parking spot without any proof of his disability. Atwood felt that since there were plenty of other open spots, the man needed to be taught a lesson about taking parking spots where he had no right to park. So Atwood, being the vigilante prankster that he is, decided to pull the water bottle trick right next to the sports car, appearing that he was urinating right next to the car. But once the owner saw what Atwood was doing, it’s safe to say he lost his cool. The man immediately ran up to the peeing prankster and instantly starting pushing him around, seemingly trying to start a physical confrontation. Even though this douche was told right off the bat that it was only water being squirted by his car, and it was all just a joke, he felt compelled to condescendingly inform Atwood that he owned a very expensive car and if he wanted to, he could “buy (Roman’s) whole family.” And while the man never smoothed things over after the prank, the video became an instant success, with over 4.8 million views as of April 16.

Really the only losers—other than the guy that lost his cool and acted like a total douche because his fancy car almost got water on it—are other Ferrari drivers. Even though I’m sure a lot of people who own Ferraris are great people, this really adds to the stereotype that Ferrari owners tend to be a little bit more stuck-up than those who drive Priuses. And in a world where million-dollar cars exist, this guy needs to realize he may not be as big time as he thinks by owning a car that really doesn’t have the same prestige that it did 10 years ago.

Dubai is known for many things, almost all having to do with money. The city in the United Arab Emirates is one of the top tourist destinations in the world thanks to its extravagant infrastructure built on the back of the oil industry. Not only is it home to tourism, real estate and a booming financial services industry, but it’s got some enormously wealthy residents. And they drive some incredibly fast cars. According to Dubai media, 33 people have been killed in car accidents in January and February alone.

Needless to say, a typical police car won’t be able to chase down those fancy speedsters. So Dubai police have added a modified Lamborghini Aventador to its force, that costs about $550,000. The sleek sports car, named after a bull and capable of speeds up to 217 miles per hour. We’d love to be the cop chosen to drive that baby.

But believe it or not, Dubai deputy police director General Khamis Matteral-Muzaina said the Lamborghini won’t be used to chase down criminals. Instead, it will be dispatched to tourist areas to show “how classy Dubai is.” But think about it, the car has no back seat. Where exactly would officers put anyone they arrested?

Here’s a photo:

This is just too hot, bruh. #DubaiPoliceCar #OnlyInDubai twitter.com/iCorazonMessi/…

— ᶥᵗˢMay™ (@iCorazonMessi) April 10, 2013

And a video posted to Vine:

Dubai isn’t the only city to purchase a Lamborghini for its police force, believe it or not. The cars are also used in Panama and the UK. So why not the US? Fuel-efficiency, for one. One recent study found that the average police car spends two-thirds of a 10-hour shift idling. That burns more than six gallons of fuel over two shifts each day. Think about how much fuel a Lamborghini would burn. And unlike the United Arab Emirates, the United States isn’t made of oil.

Imagine climbing inside the sleekest, futuristic sports car you’ve ever laid your eyes upon, placing your foot o the gas pedal and reaching 60 mph in fewer than three seconds, before topping at a speed of 220 mph. Sounds like something that only exists in the movies, right? Well, such a vehicle has now been brought to life in the Lamborghini Veneno, unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show last week. And three lucky people will soon own one. You could be one of them if you happen to have a spare $4.6 million in spare change lying around. Better check those couch cushions!

According to AutoGuide, the Veneno boasts a 6.5-liter V12 engine with a stunning 740 horsepower, and is “the most powerful and most expensive Lamborghini ever made,” with a design comparable to a “spaceship Lambo from the distant future.”

Did you find that extra mill under the cushion? Aw, shucks… too slow! According to SpeedHunters’ Mike Garrett, all three Venenos have already been spoken for. And since the car was only made in honor of Lamborghini’s 50th anniversary, there’s no telling if and when any more will roll off the assembly line. Better luck next time!

Yes, that’s right, the interior is white. Not a car you want to drive with muddy feet! The No. 1 also boasts a gloss carbon fiber exterior with a chrome/mirror finish. It is one slick-looking coupe. Under the hood, the Pur Sang houses an 8-liter W16 engine that delivers 1,001 horsepower.

Who would pay $300,000 for a used Ford? Apparently at least one bidder who came away from the Barrett-Jackson auction house in Scottsdale, Ariz. as the proud owner of a 2009 Ford F-150 King Ranch 4×4 SuperCrew owned by President George W. Bush.

Bush drove the pickup on his ranch in Crawford, Texas, after he left office in 2009, before donating it to the Fisher House Foundation—a charity that provides free housing for families of military service men and women who are receiving medical treatment.

“I haven’t driven on a street in many, many years, but I have been able to drive this truck on my ranch,” Bush said in a statement.

The winning bidder—who Barrett-Jackson declined to name—also came away with a video depicting Bush driving the truck on this ranch and autographing the passenger-side airbag panel.

What is a Ford F-150 owned by a former president worth? Scottsdale, Ariz.’s Barrett-Jackson Auction Co. will soon find out when it auctions the truck owned by former President George W. Bush for charity Jan. 19. The white 2009 King Ranch 4×4 Super Crew, with a 5.4-Liter V8 engine, 310 horsepower, 11,200-pound towing capacity and low mileage is valued at least $33,000 by Kelly Blue Book, but how much more will its association with Bush bring?

Low mileage is likely an understatement, as the truck was used exclusively on Bush’s Crawford, Texas ranch—purchased after he departed the White House in early 2009. Still kept under close watch by the Secret Service, Bush admits he hasn’t driven on a street in “many, many years.”

Bush will transfer the title of the truck directly to the high bidder, and also sign the passenger-side airbag panel. The truck’s value should increase thanks to a video of Bush signing the truck and driving it on the ranch, which will be included with the package.

All proceeds from the truck’s sale will be donated to the Fisher House Foundation, an organization that provides free temporary housing for families of military members being treated for injuries. Fisher House also offers scholarships to children and spouses of fallen and disabled veterans.

From Nov. 13 until Feb. 17, 2013, the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart will present an exhibition dedicated to all that is Porsche, celebrating 40 years of Porsche Design. The exhibit will include many of Porsche’s most celebrated designs, including curvaceous cars and the Chronograph I—the first all-black timepiece and Porsche Design’s very first product released in 1972. Other items showcased include the Porsche Design P’8478 sunglasses, which were the first modernized version of the classic aviator frame and became synonymous with wealth and style in the late 1970s. Visitors will also be able to view lesser-known designs such as the “Alternative Motorcycle Concept,” which the studio designed in 1980, and Porsche’s grand piano designed in 2003 for the Bosendorfer piano factory.

Also in honor of the studio’s 40th anniversary, a beautifully-illustrated book, “Porsche Design 40Y: The Book,” will be published, which celebrates the life and works of F.A. Porsche.

Alan Gibbs has been experimenting with amphibious vehicles for about 20 years. All that development may finally pay off, his company Gibbs Sports Amphibians is going into commercial production in Michigan for its Quadski vehicle.

The Quadski reaches speeds of 45 mph on both land and water and transitions between them in seconds. At the press of a button, the Quadski’s wheels retract after entering the water and deploy when approaching land.

Previously, no commercially available sports amphibian on the USA market has been able to exceed 10 mph on water. The difference is the breakthrough GIBBS patented High Speed Amphibian (HSA) Technology provides unique on-water performance. Unmatched freedom on land AND water, and rapid in transition – Quadski sets a new standard in flexibility, freedom and fun. Gibbs Sports Amphibians spent about $200 million to develop the product.

The plan is to produce 1,000 vehicles to start.
