Is Taylor Swift’s new song “22” an accurate representation? Conan O’Brien doesn’t think so. In her video, Taylor Swift and some equally-attractive and glammed out girls dance around with pom-poms, eat cake and hang out poolside as Swift sings lyrics such as, “It feels like a perfect night to dress up like hipsters, and make fun of our exes, it feels like a perfect night for breakfast at midnight, to fall in love with strangers.”

Sure, Taylor, maybe that’s what it’s like if you become a superstar while you’re still in your teens. But for most of us, Conan’s interpretation of 22 is a lot more realistic.

“Taylor Swift is great . . . but I know what it’s like to be 22,” Conan says to the camera. “I don’t think that that’s an accurate representation of what it’s like to be 22,” Conan says. He calls out Swift for her decked-out apartment, and continues “I didn’t see any ramen noodles in that video. That’s all you’re eating when you’re 22.”

Conan continues to recall life as a 22-year-old when describing a tall, carrot-topped young man with bad skin who’s greatest excitement is going to see “St. Elmo’s Fire,” starring all of his favorite actors.

“When you’re 22, you don’t even go outside. There’s nowhere to go, no one to talk to, you don’t even have a girlfriend,” says Conan. “That’s what it’s like for everybody when they’re 22. Everybody.“

Conan adds, “You’re a freak so no one talks to you. You just sit in your apartment, you watch ‘Saved by the Bell’ and eat Ramen noodles. Occasionally you spice it up by having Lucky Charms.”

So whose recount of 22 is more accurate? For those of us who had nowhere near Swift’s success by 22 we’re gonna call it for Conan.

“Don’t hate me because I’m beautiful.” So says the classic shampoo commercial, but a new study indicates a lot of people believe they’re beautiful when they are, in fact, average in appearance. Researchers from the universities of Chicago and Virginia have shown that subjects see themselves as better-looking than they actually are, while rating others based on their actual appearance. Scientists Nicholas Epley and Erin Whitchurch took photos of study participants and, using computers, created more-attractive and less-attractive versions. When asked to choose unmodified image, subjects were most likely to select the attractively-enhanced version.

The results are contrary to a recent promotion from Dove in which women were asked to describe their own faces to a sketch artist. Later, a briefly-acquainted stranger was also asked to describe the women’s faces. When the two drawings were later shown to the women, they were generally surprised to find the stranger’s description produced a sketch of a more-beautiful person.

Dove’s experiment is a great concept, but Epley and Whitchurch don’t believe its results. They describe a general phenomenon psychologists call “self-enhancement.” Research has shown that people not only over-estimate their appearance, but also their likelihood to engage in desirable behaviors. For example, people overestimate their likelihood to vote and the amount of money they donate to charity. Meanwhile, they more accurately estimate positive behaviors displayed by others.

Obviously, not everyone can be above average. But 93 percent of drivers rate their skills as above average. Likewise, 94 percent of college professors believe they do above average work, most people believe they are less likely to fall ill than others, and investors think their stock picks are more likely to be successful than others.

At the same time, most people also predict they provide more accurate self-assessments than others. So are they confident or delusional? Probably a little of both. Scientists believe the phenomenon occurs because of the adaptive nature of self-enhancement. Basically, people tend to show strong negative emotional responses toward deceivers. But through self-enhancement, they truly believe their own desirable characteristics, so they can promote themselves without lying, which boosts their confidence.

Extra confidence drives people to perform better, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Go ahead and delude away.

Americans have long been advised not to drink the water when traveling to Mexico. But now some of our neighbors to the north—those living in Montreal—are under a boil advisory. City officials have advised residents to avoid using tap water for drinking, brushing teeth, washing food and even cooking without boiling it first. Likewise, some schools have been told to stop using drinking fountains.

What happened? According to officials, the city’s Atwater filtration plant, which supplies water to much of the south and east of Montreal, failed a recent test. The plant has been undergoing renovations during the past four years and, therefore, water levels in the reservoir have dipped. But on May 22 water fell to an unusually low level, allowing sediment to mix with the water. As a result, some residents noticed brown tap water.

Despite the water advisory, officials do not believe anyone will actually become ill from drinking the water.

“This is strictly a preventative measure at this point. We didn’t notice any bacterial contamination the water—strictly turbidity, just sediment,” Montreal fire department division chief Gordon Routley told CTV. “We think (illness) is unlikely but we can’t rule out the possibility.”

Residents, who have been advised to call 8-1-1 if they notice any health symptoms related to the water, are taking the advisory seriously. Hospitals have changed their water usage, schools and cafeterias have begun using bottled water, and local Starbucks have stopped selling coffee and tea – only serving pre-bottled beverages.

Areas of Montreal that get their water from sources other than the Atwater plans are not affected by the event.

A horrific attack involving two American bulldogs was captured on camera and ended with the dogs’ death and their victim hospitalized. As a 55-year-old New Jersey woman was walking down the sidewalk in Plainfield May 18, the two dogs apparently broke from their yard and attacked her. According to witnesses, the attack lasted about five minutes before a police officer arrived and shot five times, leaving both 5-year-old dogs dead.

“The lady is screaming, ‘Oh my god, they’re biting me,‘” K’Shawn Scott, who filmed the video with his cell phone, told NBC. “The dogs, I could see it in their eyes, something had them angry.“

Police said the dogs escaped from their yard when their owner, who attempted to pull the dogs away from the victim, failed to lock the fence. According to neighbors, it was not the first time the dogs had gotten loose.

While the unnamed victim is recovering from numerous bits to her head, hands and legs at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, the dogs’ owner was issued four summonses for having vicious and unleashed dogs.

Attacks from American bulldogs are actually quite rare. According to a report from the group Animal People which compiled dog attacks in the US and Canada between 1982 and 2012, only four bites involving American bulldogs were reported in the 30-year span, although two of them resulted in the death of the victim.

Media outlets are calling Iraqi medical student med Angel the most handsome man on Earth. And he’s pretty proud of his looks, as well. Angel has posted more than 400 photos of himself on his Facebook page. Apparently a few people out there agree, since his photo album has been viewed nearly a million times since its creation three months ago. But I don’t get it. Sure, the 18-year-old has a perfectly-styled coif and crystal-clear blue eyes, but he’s a little effeminate, too. It’s not his dress or posture that makes him look like a lipstick lesbian. But his face is just a little too pretty.

Of course I’m in the minority with my opinions, or perhaps its Ahmed’s talent for self-promotion that has earned him so much attention. He says he is too busy in his medical studies to take any modeling job offers, but he certainly has no problem posing for the camera. In addition to his Facebook page, Ahmed is also featured on his own Web site, where he is called an “international superstar.”

Although Ahmed feigns surprise and flattery on his Facebook page, I’m not buying it. No one posts that many photos of nothing but themselves without a few too many doses of self love.

Whatever dude. Learn a little bit of humility, why don’t you. You once won a staring contest with your own reflection? That kind of conceit is downright repulsive. I’m not hopping on board the Ahmed Angel train any time soon.

Their appearance on “Kitchen Nightmares” caused Gordon Ramsey to walk away feeling they were beyond help, and now Juxamoto has featured Samy and Amy Bouzaglo in their own cartoon. Amy’s continued rants from the season finale of “Kitchen Nightmares” are paired with her animated self, and the result is hilarious—almost as funny as the idea this psycho is running a restaurant.

In case you missed the episode, Ramsey visited Scottsdale, Ariz. to try and lend his expertise to the struggling Amy’s Baking Company. But when he got there, he found the owners stealing servers’ tips, berating customers, yelling about just about anything and even purposely burning food when it was sent back to the kitchen.

One diner who happened to visit Amy’s Baking Company during the shoot described his experience to the Phoenix News-Times:

“She was yelling and screaming ‘get the fuck out’ and saying if we weren’t going to pay for our drinks, she was going to call the cops. She called me a ‘tough guy’ and said, ‘You better correct your acting skills if you’re trying to get on TV.’ The producer said he would pay for our bill and that we should leave.“

Since the program aired on May 10, hundreds of people have taken to social media to offer their opinions of the eatery. And the Bouzaglo’s haven’t helped matters any by posting responses such as, “I AM NOT STUPID ALL OF YOU ARE. YOU JUST DO NOT KNOW GOOD FOOD. IT IS NOT UNCOMMON TO RESELL THINGS WALMART DOES NOT MAKE THEIR ELECTRONICS OR TOYS SO LAY OFF!!!!”

While that post has since been deleted, and the Bouzaglos claimed their Facebook, YELP, Twitter and Website was hacked, an older post reveals their true colors. Last October, the Amy’s Baking Company Facebook featured this post: “We like to call them the ‘Camel Toe Mafia’ just a bunch of Pussies hiding behind a computer screen. Or working for YELP.”

This woman must be some kind of awesome lay if a dude’s willing to climb out a third-story window just to save her “honor.” The video published on YouTube May 18 has already garnered almost 900,000 views. Reportedly captured in Sao Paulo, Brazil, a woman and her husband heatedly argue on a balcony. Apparently the husband wants to know where a stray man’s shirt came from. As if in answer to his question, a man dressed only in tighty-whities starts to lower himself from the third-story window using a makeshift rope. A crowd assembling on the street below continuously call out “Cornudo,” a Portuguese word for a man being cheated on. He ultimately gets stuck before firemen arrive and held him to the ground.

This guy needs his head examined—in more ways than one. The show-off decided he’d show his buddies his strength by smashing a car window with his head. Great idea, buddy. But apparently his motto is “if at first you don’t succeed, try try again.” And again. And again. Eight times he’s captured slamming his head into that window as his friends watch in agony. In fact, after try No. 7 leaves him flat on the ground, he still gets up and makes one more attempt to bust the window with his already-busted head. I seriously hope this guy never reproduces. His gene pool will take human evolution a step backward.

If only our head-butting compadre knew that auto glass has to meet strict safety standards. In fact, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration dictates auto glass must pass a fracture test conducted with either a hammer or a spring-loaded center. Sorry bud, but when your parents called you hard-headed, they didn’t mean it literally. Hope he got his head examined—both physically and mentally.

If you haven’t watched the video yet, be forewarned: It will make you flinch and possibly give you a headache. Do not try this at home.

Urban sprawl has long led to increases in wildlife sightings as suburbia reaches into deforested areas animals call home. The moose is no exception, particularly in Alaskan cities where the line between city and rural areas is often blurred. As early as the late 1990s, 2,000 moose were known to inhabit areas in and around Anchorage.

According to a YouTube video viewed almost a million times, however, moose sightings aren’t limited to the far north. A moose was spotted taking a swim in a Redmond, Wash. swimming pool. After standing on the shallow end for a few moments, the moose swims a few laps. He then steps out of the pool and, after a moment of pondering, over the fence. The giant mammal doesn’t appear confused or alarmed, just happy to relax in the crystal-clear water. It’s truly an incredible image, and a story that you must see to believe.

This video was shot in 2007, but posted to YouTube in 2007. Somehow, though, footage of this singing toddler just went viral recently. Two-year-old Penelope is just chillin’ in her car seat, singing along to Pearl Jam’s “Elderly Lady Behind the Counter in a Small Town.” And she knows the words of the complex song better than most adults! Time to get this little lady—who must be about 8 now—into a Karaoke competition. Despite getting somewhat distracted by the end of the song (she’s just 2, after all), Penelope has even impressed Pearl Jam. The band posted the video on its Facebook page. Watching a kid this awesome make you want to pop one out yourself!
