In a classic case of, “Do as I say, not as I do,” Tumblr founder David Karp—who dropped out of high school after his freshman year before ultimately racking up a net worth of about $200 million—told Forbes he believes kids should stay in school.

There’s a lot I feel like I missed out on,” Karp said in an interview with Forbes’ Jeff Bercovici. “Just a whole lot of normal, social, childhood kind of stuff that I definitely missed out on.

Karp explained he completed his education through home schooling because he already knew he wanted to work with computers as a Web developer. But he doesn’t recommend other students follow in his footsteps.

If somebody else had the opportunity… well I wouldn’t encourage them to take it,” he said. “I don’t know that I’d be the one rooting for them to drop out of school.
